The Process
From screen to in-person connection
The Disciple Makers project exists to serve local churches who have an appetite to establish or grow their pre-church spaces. We design innovative entry points to find and connect Australians into local outreach pathways. Think of us like the ‘back-end’ system to enable a pipeline of in-person, spiritually curious connections.
Pre-church groups differ from small groups and bible studies, as they cater for people who don't yet know Jesus. Different audience, different environment.
The people we reach may be looking for connection and community or exploring questions about meaning and faith. When someone responds to one of our campaigns, they're matched to a local group and connected directly to a host from your church.
Everything after that is a relationship.
The Role of the Local Church
So what does it take?
There is no financial cost for churches to partner with us. What's needed are highly relational, volunteers, willing to give up a couple of hours each week to host groups in your chosen pathways.
Our onboarding process can take as little as 30 mins. To get started, we'll ask you to identify the pathways and groups your church and team have capacity to support (for example, a run group, Alpha). Next, confirm the team who will host yoru groups, and confirm their commitment.
We'll then arrange for your volunteers to complete a short onboarding session, and lastly, agree a date to start connecting people to your groups.

Got Questions?
Connectors are active members of a local partner church who have completed our training and onboarding process. They commit to responding to new contacts promptly, building genuine and authentic connections and journeying with those people entrusted to them. They report progress of these journeys using our simple reporting app.
Typically a person will find a group online, say a running club. They'll enter their location, and be matched to the the closest running group near them.
Those who are pastoral, great listeners and have a relational character make great group hosts. They should have high emotional intelligence and a nurturing disposition.
Being a host is all about fostering genuine relationships, so a posture of humility and sensitivity to people's circumstances and background is essential. We're here to serve, not judge.
